Our energy systems are alive and intelligent. They know exactly what they need for perfect health and vibrant energy. When our energy systems are disrupted, blocked, slowed down, or damaged, messages are sent to the conscious level that something is wrong and that we need to address imbalances, blockages and damage. We are trained to look at the physical body and address its needs rather than look at our energetic systems to provide them what they need for perfect health. Our energy systems are conscious energy and this energy is connected with all energies in the Universe. Our energy systems act as a connection between the physical world and the metaphysical or spiritual world. When we look after our energy systems we look after our deepest and most profound needs, including the physical, emotional intellectual and spiritual.
Auras: An aura is an energy field that surrounds, penetrates and extends out beyond the physical body, that is electromagnetic, electric and magnetic and is made up of varying types of live and intelligent vibrations or frequencies. An aura surrounds not only every living thing including humans, animals and plants, but also every inanimate thing such as rocks, all objects made by man, and the earth, sun, moon, and all planets in our Universe. The human aura has layers of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual elements.
Auras contain all the primary colors of the rainbow at any given time and change color depending on the emotion an individual is experiencing. Our auras are made up of may colors and many shades of colors that are constantly changing. This reflects the constant change in our thoughts and emotions.
Happy and loving thoughts expand your aura while sad or angry thoughts contract your aura. Aura sizes adjust depending on the density of the population where you live.  A dowser can easily tell you many of the physical qualities of your aura. Our energy systems surrounds us, are inside of us, and penetrates us completely. This includes the light body, which extends beyond our auras and I believe is the very essence of us that goes on forever, our auras that surround us and penetrate our physical bodies, the meridian system, a system of energy channels within us through which all energy moves throughout our body, as well as the chakras, the energy transformers changing and processing live giving prana within us.
There are many issues that can affect the functioning of our auras, chakras, and meridian systems leading to a variety of health problems. The following are a number of key potential issues.
I. Blockages can be caused by any of the following: emotions that have not been felt and released; negative thought forms from others; psychic attack energy or negative energy from energetic spells; entities or spirits lodged in our auras or chakras; chemical, metal and atomic toxins; other types of poisons or toxins; past life memories or experiences.
II. Distorted auras and chakras can be caused by any of the issues identified under blockages;
III. Holes in the auras can be caused by any of the issues identified under blockages;
IV. Lack of synchronization between the auras, chakras, and meridian system can create serious difficulty. Physical issues, emotional issues, intellectual imbalances or spiritual issues can create imbalances in various parts of the auras, chakras and meridian system. These imbalances affect the specific aura or chakra that in turn affects other parts of the energetic system. Nature always tries to achieve perfect balance and these imbalances create a real disharmony in our energetic systems. This can create unbalanced thinking, feeling and behavior.
V. Negative connections and rays can become attached to our auras. These are a result of negative emotions, drug and alcohol use, psychic attacks or spells, other intelligent being in the Cosmic World, environmental pollution, lack of nature i.e. trees, plants and flowing water. Negativity in thought and behavior in individuals, communities, draws negative forces to us from the broader Universe. These connections, rays and energies can have a real negative effect on our vitality and energy.
VI. Energetic and chemical markings can be left by other dimensional beings in our auras and brains so that these energetic beings can find and track us. Constant interference by other dimensional beings can seriously affect our vitality and health.
VII. Negative energy programs can be sent into an individual by other human beings. These programs establish connections so that ongoing negative energy can be run into an individual. This can have a serious effect on our entire energy system and inner vitality.
VIII. Negative energy can easily flip from one individual's aura into your aura. Energy is alive, moves around, and you can eventually become quite affected by the negative energy of those around you, in your homes, offices or stores.
IX. Imbalances cab be created by earth energies especially the intersecting points of the Hartman and Curry grids and underground running water.
X. Underactive or overactive chakras can create a variety of issues. Underactive chakras can translate into fatigue, lethargy, weight problems, just a slow attitude towards life or a lack of zest for living. Overactive chakras create other types of problems including hyperactivity, panic attacks, emotional imbalances, and many types of health issues in the physical body.
Aura is a traditional term for the protective psychic and spiritual energy fields that surround and penetrate the physical body. Historically, artists depict halos around the heads of individuals to denote their spirituality. Biblically, writers refer to the raiment or countenance of light in an attempt to describe the field of spiritual energy around angels, men, and women. It is from this invisible atmosphere that we receive our first impression of people. We use common-sense terms such as blue mood , red with anger, green with envy, full of energy, or radiant beauty. Such terms are similar to how individuals with spiritual sight describe the aura. From this intuitive nature, we form impressions and experience emotions and feelings regarding them and ourselves. Quantum physics describes the universe as energy. Psychology, Eastern therapy, and complementary medicine have terms for life as energy. Yoga psychology views the aura as an energy field surrounding the body, interacting through spiritual and psychological levels via structures called chakras. So we may conclude that the aura is an energy field that surrounds the physical body. It encircles each of us as the sun’s rays encircle the sun or the halo that surrounds the moon. The appearance of the aura, whether attractive or repulsive, depends on one’s physical health, mental attitudes, and spiritual development. The human aura is a dynamic matrix that includes the physical, emotional, and mental-spiritual aspects of self. The aura is the self as energy. All the contributing factors in our daily life register in our aura as colors, lines, dots, emanations, and vibrations. Every one of us is different, and our hidden selves are expressed through the aura. Those individuals who live on a strictly physical, mental, and material level have an entirely different emanation than those individuals who are intellectual and spiritual.
It is generally believed that he human aura has seven major levels. The physical and etheric levels extend about six inches to a foot from the physical body. The imaginal and emotional auric levels extend about two feet from the body and incorporate the physical and etheric levels. The mental, archetypical, and spiritual auras extent approximately three feet from the body and incorporate the other levels.
The archetypal aura contains the map of our destiny. It is like a template, things you must do. In your growth you need to learn something. You are given as many experiences as you need to learn. It can be one or a hundred, all the same to the template. It’s like going home – you can go many ways and have many experiences, but you get home and thus satisfy your template.
When reflected outside of us, we see the archetypes as the temples of gods. When internalized, these archetypes are the angels of destiny, the gods that dwell inside us. As life-long learning, our destiny is synonymous with our Soul’s curriculum. We came into physical life with an internal, archetypical lesson plan. The archetypical level is in our subconscious.
The spiritual aura reflects our transcendent nature into our psychological, social, and physical realities. It reflects and responds to the balance and alignment of all levels. The balancing energy acts as wholeness and moves through the chakras and levels as a process of breathing. Each of the other levels provides a conduit for spiritual energy. As the aura becomes balanced, the spiritual level becomes more evident.
Through our mental aura and mentality, we construct our relationship to our destiny, karma, and inner life. It reflects our beliefs, concepts, and attitudes. Though feelings and emotions are often keys to our beliefs, our mental activity decides what we will build as our internal structure, and how we project ourselves into life. We shape our reality with our minds. Our mind is the constructor, the builder. It reflects our associative ability through which we internalize and develop our integrative learning and personality. This level is also dissociative and reflects the constraints that divide us from and within ourselves and from each other. Mental heath or mental illness is reflected in this level.
The emotional aura carries the artifacts of our feelings and emotional reactions and actions. It registers our fulfillment, longs for peace, and reflects our warmth, devotion, and what we care about. Emotions give rise to our beliefs and judgments and the impetus to pursue our vision. The emotional aura reflects an aspect of our dharma or causal body (the force that determines and sets causation into our lives). It is balanced through powerful, universally oriented, non-manipulative, unconditional loving. It is the source of our drive for power and dominance, and powers our adversarial and competitive nature. The emotional aura is also the source of passion and the total embracing, loving heart that heals and forgives. It is our peacemaker.
The imaginal aura is the medium through which we create and transform our circumstances. This aura can be developed as a function of perception or inner-seeing and creativity. Intention, positive self-image, visual learning, visualization and healing, manifestation and success are generated and reflected in this level. Used integratively, it is a power force for connecting, integrating, and aligning all levels. Used dissociatively, the imaginal level can be devastating. Delusions and obsessions are generated through and reflected in this auric level. It is affected by drugs that create forms in the aura that are disconnected from the authentic processes of creativity. Drugs disconnect you from the ability to complete, fulfill, or enhance the soul’s purposes. They effectively help us avoid life and the challenges and rewards that our soul is destined to fulfill.
The etheric aura is a blueprint or archetype for the physical body. It creates and maintains the body form. Meridians and chakras appear in this formation. The etheric body or double acts as a template for the physical body and appears as an energy matrix. It is described in chi-gung as meridians that transmit chi to the body. Balance and alignment of the aura affect the meridians and their functioning. If the energy of the etheric-double is blocked or out of balance, the physical body will reflect this. The meridians interact with the organs and the chakras interact with the endocrine system and nerves.
The physical aura reflects physical trauma, cell memory, physical health, and physiological beliefs and emotions. It penetrates the physical and etheric bodies and reflects the state of the energy fields. In balance, it can accommodate enhanced forces deeper in the psyche.

Chakra is an old Sanskrit term meaning 'wheel' or 'circle' and is generally used to reference specific energy centers along the body's meridian. Generally there are Seven Chakra points, although some systems include one or two extra points. The earliest mention of Chakras appear to come from the Vedas that form the Hindu scriptures . There are also mention of energy points from a variety of traditions, such as within acupuncture, or in the Jewish Kabala when the Sephiroth are overlaid on the body. Most systems that use energetic points also tend to approach from a standpoint of balancing the points since all of the points are valuable and important. In the system described below, the energy is often described as moving up from the root, to the crown and up into heaven, and back down through the crown, to the root, and down into the earth. In short the energy is said to move in two directions at once.
  • The First Chakra, located between the genitals and the anus, is considered the root chakra, and is associated with the connection to Earth, security, foundation, and basic rootedness. It is also sometimes considered a place of potentiality and beginnings.
  • The Second Chakra, also known as the sacral chakra, is located at the groin, and is associated with sexuality, partnership (both non-romantic and romantic), and creativity. In some ways it can be thought of in terms of the Chinese Yin and Yang symbol, where you have both the masculine and the feminine energies partnering together to form a whole.
  • The Third Chakra is located at the solar plexus, and is essentially the will center. This is the place where we move our will out onto the world in order to manifest those things we are trying to create in our lives.
  • The Fourth Chakra is located at the heart and is related to love. In some systems, the heart is considered to have two sides, the masculine and the feminine. The masculine side (right) is about unconditional love of others, and the feminine side (left) is about unconditional love of self.
  • The Fifth Chakra is located at the throat, and is about communication and the voice. This is the place of not only communication of ideas, concepts, and overall expression, but also of speaking your personal truth.
  • The Sixth Chakra is located at the position of the third eye, and is related to sight, but also to time. This chakra is often associated with psychic abilities of various types.
  • The Seventh Chakra is the crown chakra, located at the top of the head, and is associated with the connection to heaven and consciousness.Yogis say that chakras are centers of spiritual energy. This energy is called prana or life force. Each chakra contains a definite number of nadis and these nadis possess a tone or vibration. The chakra centers circulate pranic energy and energy is activated through these centers. Each chakra sends energy to the particular part of the physical body and correspondingly, the mental body too. Prana is a link between gross body and subtle or astral body.

The union of prana and mind with the self is the goal of Hatha yoga. There are three important Nadis in the spine. They are: Ida, Pingala and Sushumna Nadi.

  • Ida nadi represents – negative force – flow of consciousness.
  • Pingala nadi represents – positive force – flow of vital energy.
  • Sushumna nadi represents – neutral force – flow of spiritual energy.
Nadis carry pranic currents to all parts of the body. It is said that there are 72,000 nadis in our body.
There are seven main energy centres (chakras) of the body. These chakras are like spirals of energy, each one relating to the others. Using the seven colours of the spectrum, Colour Therapy aims to balance and enhance our body's energy centres/chakras and also to help stimulate our body's own healing process.  Colour Therapy uses colour to re-balance the Chakras that have become depleted of energy.
Colour therapy can be shown to help on a physical level; however there are deeper issues around the colours on the psychological and spiritual levels.  Colour has a profound effect on us on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If our energy centres become blocked or depleted, then our body cannot function properly and this, in turn, can lead to a variety of problems on any level.
Our well being is not purely a physical issue. Many more practitioners are now treating patients in a holistic manner. That is to say, we are body, mind and spirit and none of these areas function entirely alone; each has an effect upon the other. This is why Colour Therapy can be so helpful since colour addresses all levels of our being.
All life experiences have an affect upon us. Some experiences will be positive and some negative. It is these negative experiences which can manifest themselves physically over time as dis-ease. For example, perhaps over the years we have been in a situation where we have felt unable, for one reason or another, to speak our mind, or to express our needs and feelings. This can manifest as a problem in the throat chakra. The throat chakra relates in the spiritual aspect to self expression. Thus, if our self expression has been blocked, the energy in this area will not be free flowing.  Working with the appropriate colour/colours can help to dispel negative feelings, free blocks and re-balance the body.  Listed below is each of the spectrum colours and the chakra which it relates to.

Meditation
There are many ways of meditating and meditation means different things to different people. Meditation is part of normal daily practice for a great number of people within some religions. Whatever the word 'meditation' means to you the practice can be enormously helpful as a way of calming the mind and finding your own inner peace.  This place of inner peace is where we can open up to our higher self - without the 'interference' of the ego or intellect - where we can find our higher intelligence and knowing.

Meditation can be achieved by focusing the mind on a particular object, for example a flower, or on a simple shape, on a sound, on an image (visualization), or by focusing on the breathing. (Colour breathing exercises can be done lying down or sitting and can be a very helpful form of meditation.)   There are many very helpful tapes and CD's around to help with meditation as they will talk the listener through the stages of relaxation and some will help to build a 'picture' in the minds eye of tranquility.   With practice, you will find it becomes easier and easier to meditate and to be able to 'switch off' any time, anywhere, when you are feeling the need for some peace.

Breathing
Breathing is very important - and as obvious as that sounds, it is surprising how few of us actually do breathe 'properly'. Breathing is something we all take for granted and are inclined to forget about. However, shallow breathing can often be a symptom of stress. Similarly, shallow breathing can result in fatigue and stress due to the intake of insufficient oxygen.  Shallow breathing can also result in dizzy turns as insufficient oxygen is getting to the brain. Since approximately 90% of our energy is created by oxygen and nearly all the body's actions regulated by it - it is rather important that we get enough of it!!
Go somewhere quiet and lie down or sit in a chair with good back support so that your body is straight, allowing you to breathe deeply and comfortably. Make sure you are not wearing any tight clothing. Tell yourself to relax. Work on every part of your body from the top of your head to your toes, consciously relaxing each part. Concentrate on your breathing, taking deep in-breaths, through the nose, letting the breath fill your body, relaxing and calming. Then breathe out through your nose or mouth, exhaling all negativity and stress and ridding your body of the toxins which build up there. Repeat this a number of times - if you can only manage 10 minutes that is fine. Eventually you will be able to practice this anywhere, any time, when you are feeling stressed. Try not to hunch your shoulders as you breathe in - try to consciously relax the shoulders and neck and breathe from the abdomen - watch your tummy expand as you breathe in.
There are a number of breathing techniques which are taught by practitioners of different disciplines, either on a one to one basis or in a group, such as a workshop perhaps.   If you have a particular medical problem, then a good place to start is with your doctor, who will be able to advise you.

Colour Breathing
A lovely and very helpful exercise is Colour Breathing - or breathing in the rainbow.  The purpose of this is to heighten our awareness of colour and to encourage a balance of all the seven main chakra colours for our well being.
Stand with feet slightly apart and arms by your side, relaxed with palms turned to the front. Relax the shoulders, and concentrate on your breathing, consciously relaxing all of your body from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Breathe deeply in through the nose, holding for a few moments and then breathing out through the nose or mouth. As you breathe out, imagine expelling all the stress, negativity and toxins from your body. If you can do this exercise outside all the better, and, weather permitting, stand on grass with bare feet.
Affirmations, either spoken out loud or as a concentrated thought, can be helpful too to help us focus and avoid our minds from wandering. For example, red is the Colour of courage and strength - we could say to ourselves - the energy of red fills my body and I have the strength and courage to move forward along my life's path. It doesn't matter how we word our affirmations - they will be unique to each individual - but remember the positive aspects of the colours and make sure your statements are positive.
First breathe in red from the earth, imagine it rising up through your whole body giving you strength and courage. Make an affirmation to suit your situation as you breathe in and experience the colour filling your body. Allow the colour to travel up through the body and out of the top of the head and then back down again to the earth. Repeat with orange and an appropriate affirmation, then yellow. These first three colours are absorbed from the earth. Then green. This colour is absorbed horizontally through the solar plexus, let it fill your body, thinking or speaking your affirmation, and let it leave through the back. Then blue which is absorbed from the sky, through the top of the head and out again going back up to the sky, similarly with the indigo and violet.
If this exercise is done daily you will notice how your colour awareness develops and you will be able to visualize the colours much more strongly as you do this exercise regularly, balancing and enhancing your body's energies.
Colour in the Home
There are many variations of the basic colours. The paler versions give us the same qualities as the bold colour but in a gentler way.  When decorating an area - the complementary colours, and their variations, should be remembered and combined with our main choice of colour by way of soft furnishings perhaps, pictures etc.
It is also helpful to take in to account the aspect of a room. For example, should you require a calming atmosphere in a north facing room, which may well be one of the colder rooms in your house, remember to use some warm colours (i.e. variations of the warm colours of yellow, orange and red) to avoid the room feeling colder.
Following is a table of colours and their suggested uses in various areas.
Colour Effects Suggested
Violet: Calming for body and mind. Good for meditation and prayer. Enhances purpose and dignity. Heightens our awareness and helps us to give of our very best. Purifying.
Indigo: Sedative. Helps to open up our intuition. The colour of divine knowledge and the higher mind.
Blue: Calming, relaxing and healing. Not as sedating as indigo. Also the colour of communication.
Green: Balancing, harmonizing and encourages tolerance and understanding.
Yellow: Stimulates mental activity, feeling of confidence. Helpful for study as it helps us to stay alert.
Orange: Warming and energizing. Can stimulate creativity. Orange is the colour of fun and sociability.
Red: Energizing, exciting the emotions, stimulates appetite.
Magenta: is the eighth colour in the colour spectrum and is a combination of red and violet, thus it combines our earthly self and spiritual self, thus balancing spirit and matter. It is uplifting and helps us to gain a feeling of completeness and fulfillment.
Turquoise: Cool and calming and good for the nervous system and immune system.

Pink: This colour soothes and nurtures. It helps to dissolve anger and encourages unconditional love.
Black: Used with another colour enhances the energy of that second colour. Black gives us the space for reflection and inner searching.
White: Contains all the colours. It emphasizes purity and illuminates our thoughts, giving us clarity.

Areas of Use
Violet: Places of worship, entry areas to clinics and hospitals, festival areas. Pale violet
in bedrooms.

Indigo: Not suitable for areas for entertainment but for more 'quiet' places. Bedrooms, treatment rooms.
Blue: Any rooms except those used for physical activity or play.
Green: Depending upon the shade, can be used for most areas. Use with other colours as well to avoid the balance and harmony becoming more like total inactivity and indecision.

Opening your chakras can help you be healthy and happy.
When your chakras are open, your physical body and your life are healthy and balanced. When any of the seven chakras are blocked or underactive, it can cause significant disturbances in your body or life. Energy flows through the chakra system in two ways. First, it flows up and down along your central channel, base of spine to top of head, connecting the chakras. Second, it flows horizontally, in an exchange of energy with the cosmos.
It's very common for one or more chakras to become blocked or imbalanced. A blockage in a chakra can result in disturbances--sometimes profound--in a person’s health, emotions, mind, spirit, or lifeTo be healthy and happy and continuing to develop spiritually, it's important to keep all the chakras open and balanced, smoothly exchanging energy with the cosmic energy and with each other. There are many techniques you can use for chakra opening. Many energy healers will spend a considerable amount of their time with you healing the chakras: opening, balancing, and energizing them. A professional energy healing can be good not only for chakra opening, but also for you to get a feel for your own chakras.
But there are also many easy, natural, non-esoteric (and fun) ways that you can open your own chakras. I call it "everyday energy healing." Following are some suggestions for chakra opening for each of the seven chakras. They're just suggestions. I'm sure that you'll be able to come up with many more of your own.
Keep in mind that the way to make these techniques effective is to do them mindfully, with sacred intention to open the chakra.

How to Tell if A Chakra Is Open or Blocked

So how do you know if you need to work on opening or balancing a particular chakra? The easiest way to tell if a chakra is blocked or otherwise compromised is to look at your body and your life.
